Co Op at Plastic People.

One of the definitive moments in UK club culture, Co Op was an award winning club night originally held at The Velvet Rooms and then Plastic People in Hoxton, London from the late 90's to 2005. Over a period of 8 years a collective of like minded musicians, producers and DJs played their own material and joined together to create a night of collaboration and musical expression.

DJ's IG Culture, Dego, Domu, Phil Asher, Afronaught, Daz I Kue, Seiji, Mark Force and Marc Mac joined forces with MC's MG, T Roy and Motet. Vocalists including Vanessa Freeman, Colonel Red and Lyric L were often handed the mic at the edge of the DJ booth and would freestyle over tracks. IG would welcome people into the dance with a name check, sirens would be heard over the music and Laser Crew would light up the club for dancers like Possessed Crew who would bust incredible moves that would energise the night. The atmosphere was electric, the sound heavy and uplifting, and the connection of music, vibrations and people was an amazing force. All those that witnessed a night there would tell their friends and the venue soon become full at around 9pm. Roy Ayers and Don Blackman paid a visit and Questlove from the Roots would frequent the night when in London.
